The Story Behind the Second Pour
Second Pour began the way so many memorable evenings do, around a table with a bottle of wine. We noticed that while the first glass sets the tone, it’s the second pour when the magic really happens: when conversation deepens, laughter grows louder, and stories begin to flow as easily as the wine. It was in those moments that the idea for Second Pour was born.
What started as a passion for sharing wine with friends evolved into a mission to create spaces where that same sense of connection could flourish on a larger scale. We wanted to go beyond tastings and tours, designing intimate dinners, immersive journeys, and encounters with winemakers that capture the beauty of both the craft and the community around it. Every experience is built around the belief that the true story of wine begins not in the bottle, but in the moments shared once it’s poured.
Meet The Guide Behind the Glass
John Ufland has always been a storyteller. He continues to work as an executive in the motion picture and television industry, helping to bring powerful narratives to life on screen. Alongside this career, his passion for wine and the stories behind each bottle inspired him to create Second Pour.
Second Pour grew out of John’s belief that wine carries the same magic as film: it transports you, moves you, and creates moments of connection that last long after the credits roll. With WSET training, deep winery relationships, and years of personal vineyard experiences, John brings together his background in storytelling with his love of wine. The result is an experience where every pour has depth, and every guest becomes part of the story.
